Hyatt Hotels Corporation declared today the inauguration of Thompson Houston, the latest luxury lifestyle hotel in Houston. It promises a unique guest experience that celebrates the distinctive character of Space City, overlooking the lush Buffalo Bayou Park. With its exceptional location offering rare, unobstructed vistas of downtown Houston’s skyline, the hotel embodies the city’s vibrancy through its stylish design signature, luxurious spa, fine dining options, and exquisite event spaces.

Thompson Houston boasts 172 guestrooms, including 34 suites, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a residential ambiance inspired by the essence of old Texas. Each room is adorned with custom-made furnishings and spacious en-suite bathrooms featuring marble vanities and bespoke wall treatments. Nestled within a sleek glass and exposed-steel structure with curved lines crafted by the renowned architect HOK, the hotel’s interiors, designed by Houston-based Abel Design Group, embrace warm earthy tones, organic materials, brass fixtures, and hardwood floors, paying homage to the natural surroundings of Buffalo Bayou Park.

“We’re thrilled to open Thompson Houston and offer guests and locals an unparalleled hospitality experience in Houston,” said Ted Knighton, managing director of Thompson Houston. “With a unique design and stellar location beside Buffalo Bayou Park, we are excited to become a homebase for visitors and locals alike and what will surely be the most sought-after social space for weddings and events.”

Situated on the seventh floor, the mid-century modern lobby captures Houston’s spirit with its edgy yet sophisticated contemporary design. The hotel features one of the city’s largest outdoor rooftops, boasting a custom-tiled infinity pool surrounded by cabanas and a 2,500-square-foot greenspace, providing breathtaking views of downtown, ideal for outdoor weddings and events.

The sixth floor houses the full-service Thompson Spa at Thompson Houston, offering six treatment suites providing spa services comparable to those of a world-class destination spa resort. The spa features indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, saunas, a salon, and a state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center. Guests can indulge in bespoke treatments, including massages, facials, body scrubs, and more, using luxury products from Pietro Simone and Agent Nateur.

Adding to Houston’s culinary landscape, Sol 7 serves as Thompson Houston’s signature all-day dining restaurant, offering rooftop seating for guests to savor creative cocktails and seasonal cuisine. Two additional restaurants, Chardon, a French brasserie, and Buck 40, an upscale supper club, are set to open soon, helmed by Executive Chef Alexandre Viriot. Thompson Houston also hosts the first brick-and-mortar location of Maven Coffee Company, founded by Houston Astros baseball player Lance McCullers Jr. and local entrepreneurs Juan Carlos Martinez de Aldecoa and Blake Fertitta.

With over 17,000 square feet of meticulously designed indoor and outdoor event space accommodating up to 800 people, Thompson Houston emerges as a premier venue for weddings, meetings, galas, and social events. The hotel’s venues exude a residential charm, featuring intimate boardrooms, a grand ballroom adorned with mesh chandeliers, brass accents, and private terraces, all with stunning city views.

As the only hotel in Houston with direct access to a 160-acre park, Thompson Houston encourages wellness and outdoor exploration with various open-air spaces and guest amenities. Guests can explore nearby trails on complimentary Thompson Houston-branded Bluejay Electric Bicycles and enjoy hydration stations, daily newspapers, and fresh fruit.

Conveniently located near the Galleria, River Oaks, downtown Houston, and major sports venues, Thompson Houston is just a 25-minute drive from both George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William Hobby Airport.

Thompson Houston marks the fourth Thompson Hotels property in Texas and the 19th globally.

World of Hyatt members can earn 500 Bonus Points for qualifying nights at Thompson Houston until May 31, 2024, as part of World of Hyatt’s new hotel member offer.
