Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition presents exclusive grape tasting gala

The Hudson Valley’s wine community is poised for a resurgence with the upcoming gathering hosted by the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition at Benmarl Winery on Friday, May 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. This exclusive event is designed to spotlight Cabernet Franc as the premier grape of the region, bringing together aficionados, vintners, and industry luminaries.

At the heart of the occasion lies a rare tasting opportunity featuring sixteen Cabernet Franc wines meticulously crafted by eight esteemed wineries from across the Hudson Valley. Attendees will embark on a sensory voyage, savoring distinct interpretations of this esteemed grape variety, each a testament to the unique soil and expertise of its originating vineyard.

Among the esteemed members of the Cabernet Franc Coalition showcased at the event are: Benmarl Winery, Fjord Vineyards, Millbrook Vineyards & Winery, Milea Estate Vineyards, Quartz Rock Vineyard, Robibero Winery, Rosina’s Winery, and Whitecliff Vineyards.

“We are thrilled to host this landmark event at Benmarl Winery, which is home to the oldest vineyard in America,” said Linda Pierro, one of the co-founders of the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition. “It is the perfect venue to showcase the remarkable potential of Cabernet Franc in the Hudson Valley.” Doug Glorie, co-founder and president of the Coalition, expressed his excitement, saying, “Through our collective efforts, we are committed to elevating Cabernet Franc as the preeminent grape varietal of our region, uniting winemakers, enthusiasts, and media partners in our shared passion for exceptional wine.”

Beyond the tastings, a selection of locally sourced delicacies thoughtfully paired with the wines will be available for purchase. Attendees will also enjoy live music and depart with a commemorative wine glass. Tickets are priced at $45 per person and can be acquired through EventBrite.

Established in February 2016, the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition (HVCFC) is dedicated to fostering a distinct Cabernet Franc identity within the region, raising awareness of Hudson Valley-produced Cabernet Franc wines, and championing a sustained initiative for consumers.
