Udaipur Katha, the signature dining destination at Sterling Jaisinghgarh Udaipur, has earned the prestigious title of ‘Best Speciality Restaurant in the Boutique Hotel Category’ at the Travel + Leisure Delicious Dining Awards 2026.

The accolade highlights Udaipur Katha’s unique approach to showcasing Rajasthan’s rich gastronomic legacy by blending authentic regional flavours with modern culinary techniques, elegant presentation and heartfelt hospitality. Set against the cultural charm of Udaipur, the restaurant delivers an immersive dining experience that captures the essence of Mewar through every element, from its cuisine to its ambience.

Introduced during the New Year’s Eve celebrations in December, Udaipur Katha was envisioned as “Mewar’s evening ritual” — an experience where food, heritage and storytelling come together. Inspired by Rajasthan’s traditions, the restaurant’s concept revolves around fire, flavour and local narratives. Its carefully curated menu features signature creations including BBQ Laal Maas, Zaffrani Boti, Jackfruit Shashlik, Ghewar Cheesecake and Baked Churma Tart, offering guests a contemporary take on iconic Rajasthani cuisine.

Beyond its culinary offerings, Udaipur Katha creates a complete cultural experience through its rooftop setting, sunset dining moments, traditional music performances, folk dance showcases and curated cultural evenings. These elements transform a meal into a celebration of Rajasthan’s history, artistry and hospitality.

The award recognition reflects the restaurant’s growing popularity among visitors and diners. From January to July 2026, Udaipur Katha climbed significantly in Tripadvisor’s Udaipur restaurant rankings, improving from 57th place to 34th place. The restaurant has also maintained exceptional guest appreciation, achieving a 4.9 rating on both Tripadvisor and Google.

With its combination of authentic flavours, contemporary interpretation and destination-inspired experiences, Udaipur Katha continues to strengthen its position as one of Udaipur’s notable boutique dining attractions.

Commenting on the recognition, Anupam Dutta, Chief Marketing Officer, Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited, said:

“Udaipur Katha is a wonderful example of what happens when the character of a destination is brought alive through food, storytelling and warm hospitality. Across Sterling, we are discovering and bringing to the fore such hidden jewels within our destinations, giving them a distinctive identity through concepts rooted in local flavours, culture and stories.

Food can be much more than an accompaniment to a stay. A thoughtfully created and consistently delivered restaurant can become an experience in its own right — and even a reason to visit the destination. This recognition for Udaipur Katha is an important validation of that belief.”

Sterling’s Udaipur Katha represents a significant shift in the brand’s food and beverage vision — moving beyond traditional resort dining to create immersive, destination-inspired culinary experiences that become standalone brand identities. This strategy is reflected through a growing portfolio of regionally influenced concepts, including Amo Odisha in Puri, The Malabar in Wayanad, Pahaare – Tastes of Gorkha in Darjeeling, Ocean’s Kitchen in Alleppey, Doon Diner in Mussoorie and Slate & Pearl at Kodai Lake.

Each dining concept is crafted around the unique character of its destination, showcasing local flavours, indigenous ingredients, cultural narratives and regional culinary heritage. By integrating the essence of each location into its dining experiences, Sterling aims to create stronger emotional connections with guests while enhancing the overall resort proposition.

Speciality restaurants are emerging as a key growth driver within Sterling’s hospitality strategy, helping resorts build stronger brand identity, improve guest engagement and attract diners beyond in-house travellers. The recognition of Udaipur Katha further highlights the potential of destination-led culinary concepts and supports Sterling’s plans to develop more locally rooted dining experiences across its expanding resort network.
