Iberia is breaking new ground in its commitment to accessible travel by introducing Háblalo Iberia, a customized mobile application designed to enhance the journey for travelers with communication challenges. Developed in collaboration with the innovative startup Háblalo, this app empowers individuals with disabilities to navigate their travel experience independently, fostering greater comfort and autonomy.
With over 500 million people worldwide facing barriers to communication, Iberia’s initiative marks a significant step toward inclusivity in the travel industry. The app is available for free download on both the Play Store (Android) and Apple Store (iOS) and operates without requiring an internet connection—ensuring seamless accessibility for users at all times.
The core feature of Háblalo Iberia is its powerful transcription tool, which allows users to convert text into voice and vice versa. Additionally, the app offers multilingual support, enabling translations into eight languages. Travelers can communicate effortlessly using pre-designed pictograms and keywords tailored to common scenarios encountered during air travel.
By selecting specific pictograms, users can generate complete sentences, which are then read aloud through the app’s audio function. For more complex needs, multiple selections can be combined to form detailed sentences. The app also includes a step-by-step travel guide, providing clear instructions for every phase of the journey, from check-in to boarding and beyond.

As part of its broader accessibility strategy, Iberia has launched a comprehensive plan to improve the travel experience for passengers with physical, visual, auditory, and cognitive disabilities. This initiative addresses essential aspects such as mobility, safety, autonomy, and comfort.
A dedicated section on Iberia’s website now provides detailed information on accessibility services, while the airline’s Call Centre offers specialized support to address specific concerns from passengers with disabilities. This holistic approach ensures that every customer feels seen, valued, and supported.

The development of these improvements is the culmination of extensive consultations with individuals with diverse accessibility needs. Iberia partnered with several expert organizations, including Envera, the Spanish Paralympic Committee, the ONCE Foundation, Ilunion Accessibility, the State Confederation of Deaf People, and the Spanish Confederation of Autism. These collaborations helped the airline identify key areas for enhancement, ensuring that its services meet real-world needs.
This first phase is just the beginning, as Iberia remains committed to advancing its accessibility offerings. The airline plans to introduce further updates throughout the year, reinforcing its dedication to creating an inclusive travel experience for all passengers.
Iberia’s commitment to accessibility is part of its broader strategy to integrate innovation and sustainability into its operations. By prioritizing the needs of travelers with disabilities, Iberia sets a benchmark for inclusivity in the aviation industry, ensuring that every journey is safe, comfortable, and empowering for all.
This initiative demonstrates Iberia’s vision for a more inclusive future in travel, where technology bridges gaps and ensures that everyone can explore the world with confidence.
