Nellie Dhanji named 2024 Chair of IHG Owners Association’s Global Board, bringing years of leadership in hotel management and law to the role.
The IHG Owners Association is thrilled to declare Nellie Dhanji as the newly appointed Chair for its Global Board of Directors in 2024. Presently, Dhanji holds the position of Vice President of Operations and Legal Counsel at Stanley Park Investments Ltd., situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Over the years, her involvement with the Association has been notable, contributing extensively to various groups and initiatives such as the Digital & Distribution and Loyalty Committees, along with the Emerging Leaders Network.
Born and raised in Calgary, Dhanji completed her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University and went on to receive her legal education in the United Kingdom. Her legal career commenced in London, after which she returned to Calgary and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2011. With a solid foundation in corporate and real estate law, Dhanji transitioned to managing her family’s real estate interests, focusing on hotels. She is responsible for the asset management, development, and operations of their IHG-branded hotels, while also managing her legal practice. Additionally, she serves on the Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association’s Board of Directors.
In assuming her role as 2024 Chair of the Association, Dhanji expresses her commitment to driving owner profitability while also fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within the Association. She remarks, “I am honored to assume the role of 2024 Chair of the Association, especially as the first woman to take on the role. Together with the Global Board of Directors and the Association’s management team, we aim to support owners while driving a renewed focus on diversity and equity activities, ensuring that all voices within the Association and wider hospitality community are represented.”
Dhanji’s career has been distinguished by numerous awards and recognitions, reflecting her commitment and leadership in the sector. Her selection as Chair has been enthusiastically received by John Muehlbauer, the Association’s CEO, who highlighted her ability to champion the interests of owners and operators across the globe. Muehlbauer commented, “Her extensive experience in business and hospitality equips her well to represent IHG owners and operators internationally. Under her guidance, we are confident in advancing our mission to enhance the investment returns for IHG hotel owners.”
Beyond her professional life, Dhanji enjoys quality time with her husband and two daughters, along with skiing, cooking, and traveling.
