The initiation of a service model resembling a personal health assistant for tourists seeking medical treatment in Türkiye was announced by Zubeyde Akdas, the founder of Istanbul-based iMed Medical. She highlighted the cost-effectiveness of medical treatments in Türkiye, particularly noting that expenses are significantly lower by approximately 30–40% than in the UK, Europe, and the US, positioning Istanbul as an attractive destination for health tourism.

Akdas underscored iMed Medical’s strategic contribution to Türkiye’s stature in the global health tourism sector. This effort includes bridging the gap between international patients and the country’s esteemed health institutions and experts. She elaborated on the services offered by her agency, stating that they hold the International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Health and specialize in plastic surgery, obesity treatment, and hair transplantation.

She further explained that those opting for Istanbul for their medical needs could arrange their treatment plans via phone, online platforms, or in-person consultations with their personal counselors in the Netherlands and Belgium.

A projection by Future Market Insights, a US-based analytics firm, anticipates a 6.6% growth in health tourism revenue for Türkiye, estimating an increase from 3,751.6 million dollars in 2023 to the end of 2033. Akdas remarked on the burgeoning interest in Türkiye as a premier destination for health tourism, citing its strategic geographical location, rich cultural heritage, professional healthcare personnel, and state-of-the-art clinics as key factors attracting individuals seeking high-quality, yet affordable treatment services.

Zubeyde Akdas highlighted the comprehensive range of medical tourism services provided by iMed Medical, including aesthetic surgeries, hair transplants, and weight management programs. She emphasized that their approach extends beyond surgical interventions, aiming to redefine individual beauty standards.

Akdas detailed the patient-centric journey offered by iMed Medical, featuring advanced surgical techniques, a selection of hospitals and medical professionals, and the absence of waiting lists. She elaborated on the logistical arrangements for foreign patients, including prompt scheduling, luxury accommodation, and personalized services supported by interpreters and private nurses, facilitating an easy blend of medical visits with leisure or business trips.

This innovative health tourism model introduced by iMed Medical is poised to significantly enhance Türkiye’s appeal as a health tourism destination. By offering cost-effective medical treatments coupled with a personalized care approach, iMed Medical not only supports the growth of health tourism in Türkiye but also ensures a transformative and comfortable experience for patients. This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on tourism by attracting a global clientele seeking quality medical care in a culturally rich and welcoming environment.
