In 2022-2023, tourist data in Mizoram shows modest growth

As per the information available from the Mizoram Tourism Department, the state in the fiscal year 2022-23, witnessed a total of 2,22,008 tourists’ inflow, which reflects a stable flood of visitors to the scenic northeastern region of India. This information includes both domestic as well as international tourists.

In the above-mentioned time, local tourists comprised the maximum number of visitors with a total of 2,18,457 individuals unraveling Mizoram. Concurrently, the state welcomed 3,552 tourists from abroad as well which represented a small yet important international presence.

Mizoram in the continuing financial year from April to July, has welcomed a total of 72,417 tourists. The segment of local tourism continues to be the main contributor, accounting for 71,342 tourists during this time. The international count of tourists stands at 1,075.

The United States occupies the top spot among international tourists, with a prominent number of tourists coming from Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia, among other countries.

Mizoram is gradually getting famous among travel vloggers on YouTube and similar platforms. Famous travel vloggers like Swathi Hariharan and DesiGirl Traveller have generated considerable viewership, getting over 50 lakh views on their travel episodes totally devoted to Mizoram. In spite of this growth, Mizoram still lags behind in terms of tourist footfall.
