The German National Tourist Board has recently unveiled that in the first six months of 2022, the country has recorded a 318 per cent rise in terms of overnight stays from nationals of Gulf countries when compared to the same period 2021.

In H1 2022, GCC nationals were found with more than 335,000 stays, when compared with a little less than 81,000 last year. Such data shows the position of the region as representing the biggest growth from an Asian source market.

As the numbers in tourism might not have returned to the levels of pre-pandemic times yet, the promising growth shows the countries powerful revival as it continues to draw tourists.

The GCC is the top Asian source market. So, it’s not surprising with their recent campaigns that there has been such a strong rise, said the director of sales and marketing at the German National Tourist Office, Yamina Sofo. The recuperation from pandemic has long been top of mind and it’s great to see that both the first-time travelers as well as longstanding ones are eager to discover everything that Germany has to offer.

In general, in overnight visitors, the Asian source markets in six months have recorded a 252.3 per cent rise, a jump from just over 217,000 to just under 800,000. The surging rise exhibits a commitment and willpower to travel internationally, in spite of some countries continuing to put into practice travel restrictions during the first half of the year.
