In 2022, foreign tourists attracted €58billion to France. The new figures show major revival after the crushing impacts of the pandemic.

From UK visitors, it included €6.2billion, followed by €7.3billion from Belgium and €6.5billion from Germany respectively.

Atout France has provided these figures, an agency with official responsibility for encouraging French tourism abroad.

The report says that by the end of December 2022, income from foreign tourism in France had increased by €1.2billion in comparison to the level same time in 2019.

This can be clarified by the arrival of clientele from Europe and America but also by inflation, which increases the returns by default.

In contrast, it said that Asian visitors mainly from China and Japan still remain at “very low levels”.

However, on international tourism level, France was not as preferred as Spain, which found again its place as European leader in 2022, said Atout France.

Already, by the end of November 2022, the Iberian nation had brought in €64.8billion, a full €6.8billion more than the total of France for the entire year.
