The leaders from every country, on this year’s World Tourism Day have united around a common resolution to invest behind the growth and transformation of tourism.
The event was organized around the theme – “Tourism and Green Investments.” On record, the celebrations of the Global Day of Observation have been principal and most impactful.
Organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the formal celebrations in Riyadh attracted over 50 tourism ministers together with many high-level representatives from the public as well as the private sectors. They were joined by the Member States of the UNWTO and other tourism stakeholders worldwide,
observing in their own countries.
UNWTO Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, and Arabia Ahmed Al Khateeb, the Minister of Tourism for Saudi, by welcoming them all emphasized the urgency for the entire tourism sector to put in more investments that bring in for People, Planet, and Prosperity.
Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of UNWTO, in his speech, started by admitting the consequences of World Tourism Day and greeted the mixed audience, comprising more than 100 delegations, 45 ministers, and 500+ representatives world over, highlighting tourism’s standing and green
investments for sustainable development. The Secretary-General also stressed on building strong partnership between UNWTO and Saudi Arabia.
