India has the possibility to rank among the topmost three markets concerning outbound travel in the upcoming years, stated Omri Morgenshtern, the CEO of online travel platform Agoda. He said this during his visit to India of late. More and more Indian travelers are becoming important for many countries and will become second after China with regard to spending in Asia, said Morgenshtern.

This time is opportune for India, which is already ahead in the race as a prospective candidate to surpass even China as the biggest travel source market, to make its foray into the dragon’s space. In India, online travel booking is accelerating considerably after the pandemic compared to other international markets, going past the Asia-Pacific market, opined Morgenshtern.

In 2022, the total business worth in travel almost touched the levels before the pandemic. Since 2019, the position of Indian tourists for Thailand has increased from 10th to 6th. Morgenshtern said that he expects it to become more significant in the coming days, not only for Thailand but for other countries in APAC.

Morgenshtern also envisions a lot of prospective for Indian inbound tourism. While India’s inbound is developing in a sluggish way than outbound travel, it is going to witness fast progression in the years to come.

Minor Indian cities and towns have witnessed an increase in demand of travel prior to the festival of colors, i.e. Holi, according to info by OYO.
