India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan and Taiwan Highlight Asia’s Most Affordable Domestic and International Flights This Holiday Season

India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan and Taiwan emerge as top destinations for budget-conscious travelers this holiday season, offering some of the lowest domestic and international flight fares across Asia. Affordable routes, peak-season promotions, and strong regional connectivity make these countries ideal for festive getaways without stretching travel budgets.

As the festive season draws closer and year-end travel plans take shape, digital travel platform Agoda has spotlighted the most wallet-friendly flight routes across Asia, helping travelers stretch their holiday budgets further. Drawing on booking data from September 2025 onward for departures scheduled between December 20 and December 31, the platform’s latest insights reveal where travelers found the lowest domestic and international airfares during one of the busiest travel windows of the year.

The Christmas and New Year period consistently ranks among the most important travel seasons globally. School holidays, extended workplace breaks, and a strong desire to reconnect with family or explore new destinations fuel a surge in demand. Cities light up with seasonal decorations, resorts welcome peak-season guests, and airports hum with activity. Amid this heightened demand, securing affordable flights becomes a priority, allowing travelers to dedicate more of their budget to experiences, accommodation, dining, and celebrations.

Within domestic markets, Thailand emerged as the standout destination for budget-conscious flyers. Some of the lowest fares recorded were for routes such as Udon Thani to Bangkok, with tickets starting at just 6 USD. These ultra-low prices made it easier for travelers to immerse themselves in Bangkok’s festive charm, from illuminated shopping districts and night markets to cultural performances and holiday events. Close behind Thailand were South Korea and Malaysia, where domestic routes such as Jeju to Seoul and Bario to Miri were booked from around 9 USD, offering exceptional value during peak season.

Other Asian markets also delivered competitive domestic fares. India featured prominently with flights available from approximately 15 USD, followed by Indonesia at 18 USD and Vietnam at 22 USD. Japan offered domestic journeys from about 25 USD, while Taiwan rounded out the list with fares starting near 45 USD. Together, these figures highlight how travelers across Asia were able to move within their home countries affordably, even during the festive rush.

On the international front, Malaysia and Indonesia shared the top position for the lowest cross-border airfares. Routes such as Johor Bahru to Phuket and Pontianak to Kuching were booked from as little as 25 USD, making regional island escapes and nature-rich destinations especially appealing for holidaymakers. Thailand followed closely, with international flights like Krabi to Kuala Lumpur available from 28 USD, reinforcing Southeast Asia’s reputation for accessible and affordable travel.

Further down the list, South Korea recorded international fares from 32 USD, while Japan followed at 39 USD. Taiwan and Vietnam both saw routes priced from around 46 USD, and India completed the ranking with international flights starting at approximately 73 USD. Despite being higher than some neighboring markets, these fares still offered strong value considering the peak travel period and high demand.
