South African Tourism successfully wrapped up its 20th Annual India Roadshow, achieving a significant milestone in its efforts to foster tourism between South Africa and India.

The roadshow, which spanned five cities in five days, starting in Jaipur and concluding in Mumbai, hosted over 12,000 meetings and generated more than 160,000 immediate leads, underlining the event’s overwhelming success.

This initiative marks a continuation of the strong travel momentum seen in the previous year, with a remarkable 43% increase in arrivals from India in 2023.

India, being one of the fastest-growing outbound travel markets globally, remains a key focus for South African Tourism. The multi-city roadshow led by Ms. Neliswa Nkani, Hub Head for the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia, showcased over two decades of dedicated engagement in the Indian market. The event brought together more than 2000 travel trade partners from 40 Indian cities, offering them invaluable insights and opportunities to capitalize on the surging demand for travel to South Africa.

The roadshow facilitated a platform for 42 leading South African trade exhibitors, including 14 SMMEs, to present a diverse range of new and affordable travel products to the Indian market. This engagement is pivotal in fostering strong partnerships between South African indigenous businesses and Indian buyers, setting the stage for future collaborations that promise mutual benefits.

Neliswa Nkani’s remarks highlighted the enduring commitment of South African Tourism to the Indian market, attributing the success in 2023 to the robust partnership with Indian trade allies and the growing interest among Indian travelers. With India’s outbound tourism market recovering strongly post-pandemic, South African Tourism aims to maintain this momentum, emphasizing the strategic importance of India as a focus market for 2024 and beyond.

The roadshow not only served as a testament to the strengthening ties between the two nations but also underscored South Africa’s appeal as a diverse and dynamic destination. Through initiatives like the “More & More” brand campaign and the upcoming Corporate Think Tank, South African Tourism continues to innovate in promoting the Rainbow Nation to Indian travelers, further enhancing accessibility and exploring opportunities for direct flight routes to boost tourism and trade between South Africa and India.
