India will organize an international meet regarding investments in its tourism segment along with a conference on business tourism in 2023, cashing in on its G20 presidency, which will commence from this December.

The investment meet would be held in Delhi in January-February, with participants ranging from tourism stakeholders from all G20 countries, financial institutions, state tourism divisions and representatives from different central government ministries.

There would also be a conference on MICE tourism in April in Bangalore, said a senior official in the Ministry of Tourism.

He said that currently, the emphasis of global investments in Indian tourism is on the hospitality sector, mainly global hotel chains; however, with this investors’ conference, India will look for fund flow into theme parks, amusement parks, adventure tourism and skiing destination set-up.

The states can also at the same time display their strengths to the international investors for inviting investments for improving their tourism infrastructure.

Moreover, the tourism ministry has also finalized Siliguri, Rann of Kutch, Kashmir and Goa as spots for several G20 meetings. This is an effort to make use of India’s presidency for driving the country as a favored tourist place, with delegates to be taken on familiarization tours.

For India, the tourism and hospitality segment is one of the biggest generators of jobs, and has been a major supplier for Foreign Exchange Earnings.
