Indiana hoping that capitalizing in tourism would pay back

Indiana is expecting that capitalizing in tourism is going to pay back.

The General Assembly augmented the yearly subsidy of Indiana Destination Development Corporation from $4.3 million to $20 million in the course of this year’s assembly.

Elaine Bedel is the secretary and CEO of the agency. She said that a part of the subject was teaching politicians regarding what adjacent states expend.

Bedel said that forty million dollars each year is what they make use of. Ohio was spending 35, Kentucky 45, and Illinois more than $100 million, and they are sitting with only four.

She said this at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond. There, Bedel and Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch came in contact with tourism experts from Northwest Indiana.

Bedel said that a $1.9 million tourism promotion aiming Chicago, Louisville and St. Louis in 2022 fetched
864,000 additional visits.

That, in line, fetched $109 million in expenditure at Indiana trades and $11.2
million in tax income.

The agency is thinking to use its new subsidy to increase its prevailing promotion to new markets and
to grow its association with native tourism organizations.
