As the world becomes more interconnected, the ease of international travel significantly impacts global tourism trends. For Indian travellers looking to explore the world in 2024, staying informed about the latest visa regulations is crucial for planning efficient and enjoyable trips abroad. With countries updating their visa policies to streamline entry processes and enhance tourist experiences, here are some key updates that promise to make international travel more accessible for Indian passport holders.
- Japan’s eVisa Launch:
- Japan has initiated eVisa applications for Indian travellers, facilitating a more straightforward application process through VFS Global. This eVisa, valid for short-term tourism, allows a single entry with a stay of up to 90 days for both Indian nationals and foreigners residing in India. The visa issuance will be electronic, requiring travellers to show a visa notice on their mobile device at entry points.
- Dubai’s Five-Year Visa:
- Dubai has unveiled a five-year, multiple-entry tourist visa specifically for Indian travellers. This permit allows stays of up to 90 days per visit, extendable once for not more than 180 days in a year. Designed for both business and leisure purposes, the visa demands a range of requirements for application, which can be processed online.
- Thailand’s Visa-Free Entry:
- The Thai Government has offered a temporary visa exemption for Indian passport holders, allowing them to enter Thailand without a tourist visa from November 10, 2023, to May 10, 2024. This exemption permits a 30-day stay for tourism purposes.
- Kenya’s Visa Requirement Elimination:
- Starting January 1, Kenya has removed visa requirements for Indian citizens and all international tourists, aiming to enhance its tourism industry. This move encourages easier access to Kenya’s wildlife and beaches.
- Access to Schengen Visas through Romania and Bulgaria:
- With Romania and Bulgaria’s partial inclusion in the Schengen Area, Indian travellers can now apply for Schengen visas through these countries, enabling up to 90 days of stay within a 180-day period in 29 continental European countries. It’s important to note that visas issued by Romania and Bulgaria before April 1 won’t provide full Schengen area access, and passport checks may still occur within Schengen borders. Applications for these visas can be made on the official websites of Bulgaria and Romania.
The visa updates for 2024 mark a significant shift towards making global travel more accessible and enjoyable for Indian travellers. With countries like Japan, Dubai, Thailand, Kenya, and members of the Schengen Area introducing more flexible and accommodating visa policies, Indian tourists have a broader range of travel options available to them. These changes not only simplify the process of planning international trips but also open up new avenues for cultural exchange and exploration. As countries continue to update their visa policies, staying informed will be key to making the most of these opportunities for global travel.
