As the airport’s first operational phase gathers momentum, IndiGo Airlines has been positioned at the forefront of this growth by introducing fresh connectivity between Navi Mumbai and significant domestic cities across the south and west of the country. The carrier’s enhanced schedule has been structured to link Navi Mumbai with Coimbatore, Chennai, Vadodara, and North Goa, reinforcing the airport’s role as a convenient multimodal hub. IndiGo’s expanded schedule from Navi Mumbai International Airport has been structured in phased rollouts across late December 2025. The first set of additions takes effect on 26 December with extended services to North Goa. This is followed by the introduction of daily flights to Coimbatore and Chennai on 29 December. Lastly, five weekly frequencies to Vadodara will commence on 30 December.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport project has been envisioned as one of India’s most ambitious aviation developments. Constructed at a cost of 2.1 billion dollars, this facility was planned to ease long-standing congestion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Built across 1,160 hectares, it has been structured as a multimodal transport node with convenient links to major urban corridors.
The architectural inspiration of the airport’s terminal has been derived from the lotus, symbolising cultural expression as well as structural efficiency. The design incorporates fluid lines, natural illumination, and modular expansion capacity to accommodate future growth. During the initial operational phase, the airport will function with a single runway and a primary terminal capable of handling 20 million travellers annually. Over the next decade, infrastructure plans anticipate expansion to four runways and several terminals, supporting as many as 90 million passengers.
The airport’s establishment has also been aligned with broader urban planning goals in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It will be integrated with the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, suburban rail networks, upcoming metro corridors, and proposed water-based transport systems. This multimodal integration has been intended to shorten travel times, streamline commuter movement, and enhance cargo capability for western India.
Dedicated cargo facilities at the airport will cater to perishables, express shipments, and high-value consignments. These capabilities have been considered essential to strengthening India’s logistics network and supporting export-driven industries.
Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited has been responsible for the overall development and operation of the airport. Mumbai International Airport Limited, under Adani Airport Holdings Limited, holds a 74 percent stake, while CIDCO retains 26 percent. This partnership structure has been established to ensure sustained planning efficiency and governance stability as the airport expands into its subsequent phases.
The airport has been projected to serve as a future gateway for domestic and international travel, reinforcing India’s role in global tourism and commercial mobility. The combined impact of infrastructure progression, increased airline participation, and enhanced regional access is expected to elevate the travel experience for millions.
