In October 2025 Inaugural Indonesia Halal Travel Fair, the first of its kind in Indonesia, aimed at enhancing Muslim-friendly tourism and halal travel services, was held at the Festival Citylink Mall in Bandung, West Java, and organised by the West Java branch of the Association of Indonesian Travel Agents.

The fair was attended by 30 exhibitors, like travel agents, halal tourism businesses, hotels, and airlines, who provided special offers on halal lifestyle products, travel packages, and services for Umrah and Hajj. Fair visitors were informed on the expanding halal travel sector and its various offerings through talk shows, games, workshops, and other educational opportunities.

Strengthening the Ecosystems of Muslim Friendly Travel in West Java

During the opening ceremony of the Indonesia Halal Travel Fair, Iendra Sofyan, the Head of West Java Provincial Office of Tourism and Culture, emphasised the importance of the event in the region’s Muslim friendly travel system. Sofyan emphasised West Java’s rich cultural diversity, and with this fair, the province will become an even greater centre of attraction for Muslim travellers interested in specific tourism offers.

The fair’s theme of halal tourism is an attempt to respond to the increasing global demand for travel services tailored for Muslims, which incorporates halal food, prayer facilities, and other services. Bandung’s hosting of the event went beyond its own tourism promotion to give the world something: Indonesia is ready to serve Muslim travellers and those seeking halal travel services.

Exhibitors and Offerings at the Fair

IHTF 2025 had various exhibitors displaying Indonesia’s signed halal travel products and services. These exhibitors included established travel agencies with Umrah and Hajj travel packages and tourism businesses catering to Muslim travellers with halal hotels and restaurants. There were also booths offering products from a halal lifestyle, such as apparel, toiletries, and cosmetics, thus providing a complete solution to travellers wanting a wholesome halal travel experience.

Among the featured discounts and special offers, the travel packages for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages certainly stand out. They are the most popular religious trips for Muslim travellers and, thus, in demand, and travel agencies were more than happy to offer their services. A significant number of travel agencies added to their offerings custom-designed tours to various Islamic heritage sites located in Indonesia, thus amplifying the religious and cultural travel experience.

Interactive Activities and the Talk Show Devoted to the Trends and Tips of Halal Tourism and Travelling, and the Halal Market of Indonesia gave a definite direction to the IHTF 2025 portable goals, which focus on tourism featuring the halal lifestyle that accompanies Muslim travel needs.

The Digital Halal Tourism Guide version 1.0, which included the 2025 and 2030 segments of the framework, provided the webinar topics on the Digital Ecotourism Halal Guide.

The topics encompassed ensuring and serving halal food, the designated prayer area and amenities at the hotel and restaurants, the kindness of the destination providers to Muslim visitors, and the prayer, Wayne’s, and other services offered at welcoming hotels.

The IHTF 2025 also focused on the Rights of the Child, Halal added to the Orthodox democracy firmly allied to class MDFI, 2025, which was celebrated at the MDFI 2020 Closing Conference, the Halal and no Halal Orthodox, and Rights to a Digital Accord, the First and the Cosmonaut, to Beirut, became a parent.

Besides others, there were fun sessions that were geared to broaden the concept of the cap-friendly.

Impacts on Travel Industry Potential and Economic Advancement

As with the case of other Southeast Asian nations, the halal travel market in Indonesia is expanding rapidly. This is why the country has paid attention to being the foremost halal tourism destination globally. For the first time, the country is taking measures to cater to Muslim travellers globally. This was the foundation of Indonesia’s strategy: to capture a larger market share of the growing halal travel sector.

This shift in strategy is West Java’s advantage. The Province already holds a leading position for tourism in the country, and the city of Bandung is aspiring to lead the halal travel sector. This way, West Java will uplift its tourism sector, and simultaneously, the region will be able to gain benefits for the other ancillary tourism activities, such as hospitality, retail, and transport.

Prospects of the Sector in the Country

The country is likely to receive more Muslim travellers now, post the successful IHTF 2025. Judging from them, Indonesia can provide the Muslim travellers with the necessary services such as halal meals, convenient access to prayer, and travel arrangements that are compliant with Islamic traditions.
