Travel And Tour World had the good fortune to interview the amazing Eugenia Fierros B2B leisure for Spain and Latin America for Innovation Norway. We had the opportunity to interview her at FITUR.

Travel And Tour World: Can you walk us through your plans in 2024?

Eugenia Fierros: Oh, definitely! So, here’s the scoop: we’re setting our sights on the year 2030, right? Our big push is all about sustainable tourism. What we’re aiming to do is really spread this awareness throughout Norway, not just during the peak seasons, but all year round. The idea is to really give a boost to local businesses and the economy. We’re talking about shining a spotlight on cultural tourism, making sure that we’re not just visitors but active participants in preserving the beauty and heritage of the places we visit.

Now, when it comes to Spain, we’re taking a bit of a different approach. We’re zoning in on promoting tourism during the offseason—think autumn and spring. These are beautiful times of the year to explore, and it’s a fantastic way to avoid the crowds while still experiencing all that Spain has to offer. Plus, it helps to spread out the tourism income throughout the year, which is a win-win for everyone involved.

Travel And Tour World: Do you have any innovative or new offers?

Eugenia Fierros: Yeah, absolutely! We’re really putting the spotlight on Svalbard right now. It’s this incredible place, sitting right at the top of Europe—literally the northernmost point you can find. But we’re not stopping there. We’re also highlighting all of Norway’s stunning natural habitat and the wildlife that calls it home. We want visitors to come and not just see, but truly appreciate and celebrate the natural wonders we’ve got here.

Travel And Tour World: Would you kindly inform us about the ecological area that Norway is currently investigating?

Eugenia Fierros: Oh, for sure! So here’s the thing: we’ve got offices scattered all across Norway, right? And we’re really getting into the groove, collaborating not just within these offices throughout Norway but also with the broader market. We’ve got folks on the ground, subsidizing initiatives, supporting new businesses that are all about sustainability, and brainstorming new product ideas. Plus, there’s a big focus on raising awareness about the carbon footprint. Essentially, our whole strategy revolves around promoting quality tourism. We want visitors to really soak up their experiences, encouraging them to extend their stays at their destinations. It’s all about creating a more meaningful and sustainable travel experience.

Travel And Tour World: What is your impression of FITUR?

Eugenia Fierros: It has been a very busy fair, actually. Excellent, upbeat atmosphere that makes people want to travel and conduct business. After just two days, I think we now have more Norwegian partners than ever before. Regarding the near future, I can only be hopeful.
