Iran is set to boost rural tourism

Ali Mostofian said on Tuesday that while keeping in mind the perfect nature of the Iranian villages in the region, the province has immense possibility of becoming a major tourist hotspot and investing in tourist villages can provide a substantial amount of employment to the region.


The rural tourism of Iran which has several immaculate yet diverse natural attractions to explore for the nature lovers. Iran’s rural tourism along with agritourism and farm-stays can be regarded as a win-win for local communities as well as post-modern travellers who are tracing unique experiences.


For some time, sightseers may live with a rural or nomadic family or can enjoy an independent stay and help them with their daily chores. Also, it would create a chance to feel rustic, their agriculture, traditions, arts, and culture.


In rural areas, rural tourism sets the ground for development of economy by creating opportunity for extra income as well as employment. Also, it can develop the social wellbeing, for instance, by stimulating improvements in infrastructure, sanitation, and electricity networks.


Rural tourism for the World Tourism Organization is kind of an activity in which the visitor’s experience is related to nature-based activities, agriculture, rural lifestyle, culture, angling, and sightseeing. Such tourism also has characteristics of low population density, a landscape dominated by agriculture and forestry, as well as traditional social structure and lifestyle.


Experts consider that even though the travellers don’t consider northeastern province as their first choice, its tourism industry is getting momentum.


Most international tourists pass straight through North Khorasan in transit between Mashhad and Gorgan, as per Lonely Planet. However, if you have time to explore, it’s worth diverting south from the capital, Bojnurd, towards Esfarayen, famed for its wrestling tournaments, the remarkable citadel of Belqays and the partly preserved stepped village of Roein some 20km north.
