The Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry of Iran are considering ways to help lessen the cost of traveling for domestic travelers.

Iran Tourism Minister Ezzatollah Zarghami said that they are looking for inexpensive tourism, since traveling is everyone’s right.

Zarghami said that over the past year, they have identified 20 impediments in the route of tourism improvement in Iran. By reinforcing domestic tourism, they would be able to create more work and recover the national economy.

He added that domestic travels comprise up to 80 percent of the tourism sector in several established countries.

Domestic tourism creates dissemination of wealth. Thus when domestic tourism is fortified, production, occupation and wealth are also reinforced.

Zarghami said that Iran has recovered its pre-coronavirus position concerning domestic travel. He stressed the fact that as per the forecasts of the UNWTO, global tourism will go back to the normal state before the commencement of the pandemic by the end of 2024. However, Iran has gone back to normalcy earlier than the predictions of global organizations.

The minister said that domestic travel has attained around 40 percent upsurge compared to the times before the pandemic. As per data, more than 56 million passengers made use of buses for their overland journeys across Iran during the past Iranian calendar year ending March 20.

Iran earned $2.5 billion in international tourism income over the last one year, mainly driven by vacationers from the adjoining states.
