Ireland faces accommodation challenge

There are anxieties countrywide regarding tourist accommodation however, in towns and counties, where they are all set to construct the sector, it’s creating major disputes.


For instance, in the midlands, there is a major change taking place. Just Transition funding is set to progress and change a once brown economy to a green one, with prime importance on setting up of sustainable tourism. Lately, the European Just Transition Fund was introduced with €169 million to help the midlands as it changes from peat production and peat-fired power generation.


The financial support will be made used in the forthcoming decade to generate fresh jobs opportunities and ease financial effects that come from a change to climate neutrality.

It has planned to branch out the financial system and generate more employment opportunities for previous peat communities.


The European Union, as part of the financial award, has given Fáilte Ireland €68 million for a Regenerative Tourism proposal to spend for tourism’s sustainable development in the region, with the focus of generate job opportunities and sustaining communities.


In Co Offaly, however, they encounter challenges already. Statistics from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth demonstrates the fact that beds contracted to arrange country’s
refugees for almost 60% of capacity.
