Today, the entry ceremony of the Historic Center of the City of San Marino into “The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” as an honorary village, with international recognition, took place.

Fiorello Primi, the President of the “The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” Association, and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Their Excellencies, the Captains Regent Filippo Tamagnini and Gaetano Troina. They were introduced by Luca Beccari, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Federico Pedini Amati, the Secretary of State for Tourism.

During the audience, Secretary of State Luca Beccari highlighted the process that led to this achievement, emphasizing the crucial contribution of San Marino’s diplomat and journalist, Osvaldo Bevilacqua, who generously supported the City of San Marino’s candidacy within the Association of “The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.

“At the end of 2023 – Beccari recalled – I personally signed the entry request, encouraging the production of the dossier which highlighted the existence, within an ancient Republic fully inserted in the wider international community, of a peculiar city context, under the historical-artistic profile, as well as for the numerous testimonies of a strong tradition that emanates from the alleys of the Historic Center and which attracts the curiosity of visitors of all nationalities”.

Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati, emphasized the importance of recognition in the realm of tourism and attractiveness.”the villages whose high historical, cultural, aesthetic and tourist level is recognized by the Association – recalled Pedini Amati in front of Their Excellencies – there are today more than 360 and it is a great honor to know that among these, with the title of International Guest, there is also the Historic Center of San Marino City. The delivery of the flag to the Captain of Castello is not just a symbolic gesture – continued Pedini Amati -, but a real act that seals a coveted goal and which certifies the value of our districts, monuments, gardens and squares, of museums and attractions, panoramas and views that only those who go to San Marino can enjoy”.
