Yi Jing, the newest addition to the vibrant fine-dining scene at ITC Maratha in Mumbai, has officially unveiled its doors to immerse diners in the rich flavors inspired by the continually evolving transborder cuisine of China. Led by the seasoned Executive Chef Liang Xiao Qing, Yi Jing marks the fourth installment of ITC Hotels’ curated Chinese concept dining, with a special emphasis on reimagined tastes from Sichuan and Hunan.
Nestled on the lobby level, the restaurant spans a generous 4250 sq ft with a split-level design, creating a maximalist haven accommodating over 90 guests. The expansive dining area encompasses four distinct zones, including demonstration kitchens for ‘Wok Hei,’ a raised Dimsum & Hand Pulled Noodle bay, an arched bar, and two private dining rooms. Envisioned as a ‘Celebration of Gourmet Theatrics,’ the vibrant red accents on wallpapers and chairs are complemented by repurposed jute pendant lamps, enhancing the elevated ambiance.
The extensive menu showcases crowd-pleasing appetizers such as handcrafted swan-shaped Char Sui, Sake & Edamame dimsums, succulent steamed pork baos, Hunan style stir-fried tofu, water chestnut, and more, catering to diverse flavor preferences. In unmissable culinary experiences, witness the preparation of freshly hand-pulled Lamian Noodles, savor the ‘Breath of Wok’ perfected over decades, and anticipate exotic specials like regal oven roasts featuring Beijing Roast Duck. The selection encompasses farm-fresh vegetarian mains, seafood, and free-range meats in tantalizing oriental sauces, paired with an array of staple options. The fusion of fine presentation and taste in desserts promises memorable hours of leisurely indulgence.
Reflecting on the launch, Mr. Bhagwan Balani, General Manager of ITC Maratha, Mumbai, expressed, “We eagerly awaited the debut of Yi Jing at ITC Maratha. We are confident that this modern reinterpretation of Chinese flavors, presented through our signature dishes, will not only elevate but revolutionize the dining experience for our cherished patrons in Mumbai. This is more than just a restaurant opening; it’s a celebration of culinary artistry and a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.”
Yi Jing at ITC Maratha aspires to redefine the perception of Chinese cuisine for well-traveled global gourmands, presenting a lively representation of ever-evolving styles that are steadfast, harmonious, and in line with the distinctive touch of ITC Hotels.
