Between 25 and 31 August 2026, a total of 144 Rakshabandhan Special train trips were operated. This marked a significant increase compared with the 48 trips operated between 8 and 14 August 2025.

The railway network transported 137.9 million tonnes of freight, compared with 130.9 million tonnes during August 2025, registering a 5.4 per cent year-on-year increase.

The growth was supported by demand from key sectors, including coal, iron ore, steel, fertilisers and other commodities.
