Jacinda Arden, the PM of New Zealand, will reopen and allow the tourists to return by May. They continue to ease Covid-19 travel restrictions in the country. This announcement has brought forward the date of tourists coming to the country forward. This announcement affects the tourists from US, Canada, Britain and much of Europe can visit from the previously announced date of October.
The country is renowned for its beautiful scenery and adrenalin-inducing adventure tourism. This reopening is helping the ski resorts in the country. For the past couple of weeks, the country has seen an exponential rise in the COVID-19 cases 20,000 new virus cases each day, its biggest outbreak since the pandemic began.
The nation’s Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins on Wednesday became the latest high-profile person to test positive. The scientists however believe that the Omicron outbreak to fade quickly from its peak, as it has in many other countries.
Ann-Marie Johnson, a spokesperson for Tourism Industry Aotearoa, has said that the tourism operators finally have confirmation they can get back to business. The tourism industry was the first and the biggest industry that was affected by the pandemic. Tour operators, both large and small made huge sacrifices but they can now focus on the rebuilding of their businesses.
