Japan Airlines Soars High with Seventh Consecutive 5-Star Skytrax Rating

Japan Airlines (JAL), part of the oneworld® alliance, has been recognized with the prestigious “5-Star Airline” rating by the international air transport rating agency, Skytrax, for the seventh year in a row. This award places JAL among an elite group of only 10 airlines globally to achieve this distinction. Skytrax’s evaluation process involves comprehensive audits and assessments of airlines’ digital presence, airport operations, and onboard services.

Edward Plaisted of Skytrax praised Japan Airlines for its exceptional product and service quality, highlighting the airline’s commitment to maintaining high standards across all cabin classes. He noted that the introduction of new onboard products in 2024 is anticipated to further enhance JAL’s service excellence.

JAL’s recognized initiatives are underpinned by the “Design Your Story” philosophy, encouraging passengers to customize their travel experiences from start to finish. The airline’s efforts include:

• Streamlining the travel process with “JAL SMART AIRPORT” services to reduce wait times at nine airports, and “JAL SMART SECURITY” for quicker, more efficient security checks.
• Enhancing lounge services with customized seating arrangements for dining or work, specialty hand-drip coffee, and exclusive shoe polishing services at the Haneda JAL First Class Lounge.
• Elevating the in-flight experience with the introduction of the A350-1000 cabin interiors inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics, unique amenity kits designed in collaboration with Heralbony Co., Ltd., and menus featuring regional specialties.
• Focusing on personalized service delivery by cabin crew, known for their safety knowledge and engaging hospitality towards both international and Japanese travelers.

JAL continues to invest in new technologies, services, and fuel-efficient aircraft, such as the A350-900 and A321neo, to enhance the travel experience. The airline’s future plans include further improvements to its digital platforms and a commitment to offering customers the opportunity to design their own journeys, emphasizing a personalized and unforgettable travel experience.
