Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, the Malaysia Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, has said that the land route between Malaysia and Singapore via the Johor Causeway and the Second Link will be opened together with the opening of the border of the country.

She mentioned that this would make travelling easy by Singaporeans to Malaysia. It would also revive the tourism of the country which got massively impacted by the pandemic.

She also stated that the declaration on the country’s border reopening would be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob very soon.

“The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry is ready and always prepared (to receive tourists from abroad),” she informed reporters.

The Prime Minister, last Saturday, said that the border would be reopened very soon. This move would further help the members of Keluarga Malaysia who hadn’t seen each other to return home, particularly for the Aidilfitri, the May celebration.

The land Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) via the Johor Causeway and the Second Link were opened on November 2021 at the same time with the air VTL between Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Land travel between Singapore and Johor Baru is for long-term pass holders who are working in Singapore and Johor Baru.

Nancy explained that the programme was designed to get closer to Johor’s tourism, arts and culture industry players.

She also launched the Jom Balik Kampung Homestay Malaysia Campaign at the event. It was organised by Tourism Malaysia in line with the launch of the jomhomestay.com portal. It was completed on November 27, 2021.
