Julius Meinl and KUBUS Offer a Unique Brunch Experience Celebrating Coffee, Tea, and Austrian Cuisine

Published on December 12, 2025

Julius Meinl, in partnership with Vienna’s renowned culinary duo KUBUS, hosted an exclusive Brunch Club event that explored the fusion of contemporary Austrian cuisine with the rituals of coffee and tea. The intimate gathering, held in Vienna, invited eight guests to enjoy a meticulously curated multi-course menu that highlighted the notion that coffee and tea are not simply beverages but powerful elements that foster connection and creativity.

A Fresh Perspective on Austrian Culinary Traditions

At KUBUS, chefs Elena and Peter reimagine Austrian cuisine through a fusion of modern gastronomy and time-honoured cooking practices. Elena, who transitioned from a career in business to gastronomy, and Peter, a former professional snowboarder, have gained invaluable experience working in prestigious kitchens, including Michelin-starred Taubenkobel in Burgenland, Jordnær in Copenhagen, and the luxury wellness hotel Steirerhof. Elena is currently working at R&Bar in Vienna, while Peter is stationed at Espresso Buffet.

In their collaboration with Julius Meinl, Elena and Peter sought to reinterpret Austrian classics, infusing them with the rich, intricate flavors of coffee and tea. The focus was on creating a dining experience where both food and beverages come together as an expression of generosity, creativity, and shared moments. “In Austria, coffee rituals represent more than just a drink—they represent time, a moment to slow down, savor, and connect. Food follows this same philosophy, and we were excited to bring this to life by playing with Austrian favorites in a new context,” said Elena Kubiena.

A Multi-Course Menu with Coffee and Tea Infusions

The event showcased a series of distinctive dishes, each crafted with the finest Julius Meinl coffees and teas. Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated selection of beverages, including espresso, Bialetti, AeroPress, and Chemex preparations. Each dish on the menu was designed to highlight the versatility of coffee and tea, not only as pairings but as integral ingredients in creating innovative and memorable flavors. Notable dishes included Buchteln (sweet buns) served with vanilla sauce, infused with Julius Meinl Organic Rooibos Wintery Days loose-leaf tea; flambéed pancakes drizzled with a coffee-infused caramel sauce made from Julius Meinl Premium Espresso; Tafelspitz (poached beef) delicately cooked in Julius Meinl Organic Treasure of Asia loose-leaf tea, paired with apple horseradish; black tea–cured eggs in Julius Meinl Organic Assam Gold Tea, seasoned with Sencha Green Tea salt; baked pumpkin glazed with Julius Meinl Premium Crema coffee grounds and coffee oil; and Coffee Knödel (dumplings) served with a rich Julius Meinl Premium Crema jus and sauerkraut.

Each dish served as a celebration of Austrian culinary heritage, reimagined through the lens of coffee and tea, creating a sensory experience that was both familiar and novel.

Brunch Clubs: A Rising Trend in High-End Hospitality

Brunch clubs, which have gained popularity since the pandemic, are changing the way people approach dining. These exclusive, one-off events often take place in private settings, offering guests a chance to experience high-end gastronomy in an intimate environment. This approach fosters personal connections and a feeling of community, setting it apart from the conventional restaurant or café experience.

Andreea Postolache, the Global Marketing & Sales Director at Julius Meinl Coffee Group, observed that coffee and tea culture is evolving alongside this trend. She explained that there is an intriguing interplay between home cooking and the innovations seen in cafes and restaurants, noting that people are embracing fine dining at home more than ever, with coffee culture playing a central role.

The Brunch Club event showcased a blend of culinary innovation and coffee culture, giving guests a taste of this modern approach to gastronomy. Postolache added that coffee and tea are all about connection, regardless of where they’re shared, and that collaborating with KUBUS showcased this in a truly creative way.
