JW Marriott has opened its second property in Germany with the debut of a hotel in the capital Berlin.

The Marriott-owned brand has taken over the running of the Hotel Berlin Central District next to Berlin’s Tiergarten park after opening its first German hotel in Frankfurt last year.

The Berlin property is owned by Qatar-based Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company (ARTIC).

Following the rebranding, JW Marriott Hotel Berlin will undergo a major refurbishment, which is due to be completed by 2025, that will include the renovation of all 505 rooms.

The hotel will offer eight dining outlets, led by chef Friedemann Heinrich, including the Market Restaurant where guests can hand pick herbs from the JW Garden. There will also be Germany’s first JW Steakhouse.

The property is also a major player in Berlin’s meetings and events market with 48 event spaces, including the city’s largest ballroom with capacity to seat more than 2,300 guests.

Other facilities include a spa with pool, steam bath and sauna, as well as two fitness centres.

JW Marriott has more than 100 hotels in its portfolio across 35 countries and territories, including London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House, which will again host the Business Travel Awards Europe 2023 on 30 October.
