Kaman Post and Teetwal inauguration expected to boost local economy

Dwellersstated that the launching of Kaman Post and Teetwal for travelers will advance the local economy and produceopportunities for work.


Experts have initiated two crossing points, i.e. Teetwal and Kaman Post toward the Line of Control (LoC).It is the existingboundary between India and Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) for tourists.This is for boosting tourism outside the traditional widespreadsites and ski resorts.


Kaman Post has been rendered a new look with a 50 feet tall national flag, along with viewpoints with binoculars, and also a kiosk for indigenousstuffsas wellas a new placefor relaxation.


Officials are considering a temple at Teetwal at the location of one of the base camps on the way to the ShardaPeeth in PoK’sNeelam Valley for luringtravelers. Since the late 1940s,ShardaPeeth has been off limits for Indian pilgrims when the first India-Pakistan confrontationalienated J&K.


In March, Amit Shah, theUnion home minister inaugurated the temple virtually. He said that work for recommencing the trip to ShardaPeethsimilar to Punjab’s Kartarpur Corridor isproceeding. Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated in 2019 for traveling without visa to the last resting place of Guru Nanak.


Zeeshan Khan, the assistant director (tourism) said that previously, tourists would only visit prominent places likeGulmarg,Pahalgam,Sonamarg and Doodhpathri.


Now, the tourism officials are hoping that tourists coming to J&K will also stop at Kaman Post and Teetwal.
