Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, is a high-tech hub popular for its shopping and nightlife. To the southwest, Mysore has lavish temples including the Mysore Palace, former seat of the region’s maharajas. Hampi, once the medieval Vijayanagara Empire’s capital, showcases the ruins of Hindu temples, elephant stables and a stone chariot.

Karnataka Tourism Minister C T Ravi has tested positive for corona virus, and is the first minister in the state to contact the infection.

“In a week’s time I have undergone two Covid-19 tests; the first was negative but the second was positive,” said Minister Ravi, who is also the Minister for Kannada and Culture.

Since one of his tests was negative, he has undergone a third test and is anticipating the result.

On Saturday, the Minister said that he has no corona symptoms and is fine.

“I am in-home quarantine. I have no symptoms. I am okay. Now, I am walking in my farmhouse,” said Minister Ravi.
