Kempinski Hotel grand arena bansko hosts 2024 World Ski Cup

The prestigious winter resort of Bulgaria proudly hosted the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup races for the ninth time, with male ski racers competing for the fifth occasion. The competitions, which took place on February 10th and 11th, coincided with the global festivities commemorating the centennial anniversary of both the FIS and the Bulgarian Ski Federation’s founding in February 2024.

The event in Bansko was graced by esteemed figures such as FIS President Johan Eliash, alongside sporting legends, VIPs, and international celebrities including Ted Ligety, known as “Mister GS,” Mark Girardelli, Alberto Tomba, Tina Maze, Petar Popangelov, Hristo Stoichkov, among others. The President of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev, also attended as a special guest.

With a record participation of 85 skiers from 20 nations challenging themselves on the renowned Tomba track above Banderishka Polyana, the event drew over 50 media representatives from more than 20 countries and garnered a live audience of 100 million TV viewers worldwide.

The first day’s giant slalom saw 26-year-old Swiss national Marco Odermatt, a dominant force in Alpine racing, clinch his ninth consecutive victory in World Cup events.

As a primary partner of the Audi FIS World Ski Cup Bansko 2024, the Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko played a central role in the proceedings. Recognized as Bulgaria’s Best Ski Hotel by the World Ski Awards 2023, it warmly welcomed numerous official and VIP guests who specifically converged for the year’s most prestigious sports event.
