Kenya Airways excels as Africa second-most punctual airline, with a 71.86% on-time rate in 2023, according to Cirium’s global review.
In the recent evaluation of global airline punctuality, Kenya Airways distinguished itself as the second most punctual carrier in Africa, according to an extensive analysis by Cirium, a leader in aviation analytics. The analysis, focusing on 41,905 flights completed by the airline in 2023, highlighted an impressive 71.86% punctuality rate for arrivals. Punctuality for flights is defined by their arrival within a 15-minute window of their scheduled time at the gate, while for airports, it refers to departures within 15 minutes of the planned time.
Allan Kilavuka, the CEO of Kenya Airways, attributes this achievement to the airline’s steadfast commitment to timely services throughout the year, a key aspect of their strategy to enhance customer experience. “Our consistent effort to maintain punctuality is a reflection of our dedication to not only meet but exceed our operational goals and provide our passengers with an improved experience,” he stated.
Kenya Airways also secured the 10th spot in the Middle East & Africa regional ranking. Jeremy Bowen, CEO of Cirium, explained that the data for this analysis is sourced from over 600 different contributors, offering a comprehensive and unbiased view of operational performance across the airline industry. This program by Cirium scrutinizes the operational performance of airlines globally, drawing data from a wide range of contributors including airlines, airports, and civil aviation bodies. It analyzes over 30 million flights annually, providing an impartial perspective on the efficiency of airline operations.
