Kerala Tourism gets a lift with new Convention Centre at Veli Tourist Village

The inauguration of the Convention Centre, constructed by the Department of Tourism as part of the second phase of infrastructure development activities at Veli Tourist Village, will be officiated by Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas on March 13 (Wednesday). Costing Rs 20 crore and spanning 27,000 sq.ft, this lake-front facility boasts high-end features of global standards, enhancing the state’s reputation as a burgeoning MICE tourism hub.

The gathering, set for 6:30 pm at Veli Tourist Village, will be overseen by Shri Antony Raju, MLA, with distinguished guests including . Smt. Arya Rajendarn, Mayor of the Corporation; Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament; Shri A A Rahim, Member of Parliament; and Shri Kadakampally Surendran, Member of the Legislative Assembly.
Notable attendees encompass Shri P B Nooh, Director, Kerala Tourism; Shri Sajeesh. S K, Chairman of KTIL; Smt. Sikha Surendran, Managing Director of KTDC; and Shri Manoj Kini, Managing Director of KTIL. The Convention Centre’s first floor can host approximately 750 individuals, with the dining area accommodating 300 guests. Moreover, the facility provides parking space for about 60 vehicles at a time.

The contract for the Convention Centre’s construction was awarded to Uralungal Labour Contract Co-Operative Society (ULCCS). Veli Tourist Village, a bustling destination popular among inbound tourists and families, has introduced several new features and amenities in recent years, including the beloved Miniature Train, a highlight for children, as part of the initial phase of infrastructure development.
