Kerala Tourism will unveil a steadfast campaign for displaying and upholding the exclusive homestay products of the state. This was stated by Kerala Tourism Minister PA Mohd Riyas in the assembly.
Minister Riyas said that a strong homestay division is vital for a robust tourism sector and keeping this stability in mind, the Kerala tourism department has lately given administrative support for a special publicity campaign for homestays in the domestic and international market.
The minister said that meetings and deliberations have been held for the promotion of homestay facility at numerous levels accompanied by the government and stakeholder associations. Due to these considerations, several concerns of the stakeholders have been taken into account. Minister Riyas said that the obligation of No Objection Certificate from the Local Self Government (LSG) for approval and license of homestay has been canned.
Minister Riyas also said that all the categorized homestays in Kerala are also registered on the tourism website.
The minister said that the state government has organized a comprehensive plan for all-inclusive improvement of the existing sites. He said that a project is in progress with KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund) for wide-ranging growth of Kovalam, which is a popular beach destination. “Destination Kovalam” will also be launched again on the tourism map after the project is complete.
