As the Kerala Government has taken the decision to restart cinema tourism, the ‘Kireedam’ and ‘Bekal’, two iconic locations will become part of the said tourism project. These are the places from where the song ‘Uyire’ from 1995 Tamil film ‘Bombay’ was shot. According to the reports, Saji Cherian, the Minister, by the end of November, has requested the secretaries to submit a report on the same project. Also, other prominent movie locations like Vellayani Lake where movies like ‘Dhruvam’, ‘Appu’, and ‘Manasinakkare’ were filmed will also get a place in the project. P.A Mohammad Riyas, the tourism minister, announced about the project in his Facebook handle as well.

In P.A Mohammad Riyas’s Facebook post he mentions the significance of this project. He also says why it would help tourism. The cinema tourism project will be executed together with the Department of Cultural Affairs. Also, the minister mentioned that if the project is executed, it would pave a way for the tourists to visit that location at least once, and later the word of mouth would bring added visitors to the site.
