Klook has emerged as the top platform for international travelers booking tours and activities in Japan, according to the latest Kansai Airport Exit Survey 2025: Interim Report. The survey, part of the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau (OCTB)’s ongoing research into inbound tourism behavior, reveals that 42.1% of respondents booked their experiences through Klook—significantly outpacing its competitors.
This finding is based on responses from 2,228 international visitors collected during two survey waves held between May and September 2025, with the interim results published in October. The survey sheds light on how tourists in Japan are choosing their activities, their satisfaction levels, and their spending habits, helping tourism stakeholders like the OCTB to refine marketing strategies for Osaka’s attractions.

Hiroki Makita, General Manager of the Marketing Strategy Department at OCTB, explained, “Understanding where visitors book their activities enables us to connect this with traveler profiles, motivations, and satisfaction. This knowledge allows us to tailor our strategies to better engage with different customer segments and enhance Osaka’s appeal to a broader audience.”
The report highlights the critical role Klook plays in promoting Osaka’s attractions. The platform’s strong presence in activity bookings aligns with the city’s broader tourism goals, supporting local tourism stakeholders such as businesses and government bodies.
As Osaka prepares for Expo 2025, which runs from April to October 2025, the timing of the survey coincided with a surge in tourism. Klook’s daily bookings during this period showed a significant year-on-year increase of nearly 40%. This surge indicates that travelers attending Expo 2025 also booked additional experiences via Klook, such as JR Passes, Shinkansen rides, and regional attraction passes like the Osaka e-pass and Have Fun in Kansai Pass.
“We are proud that Klook has been recognized as the leading platform for international tour bookings in Japan, far surpassing other competitors in the market,” said Wataru Masuda, General Manager at Klook Japan. “Our commitment to making travel experiences accessible and enjoyable for everyone is reinforced by our close collaboration with partners like the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau, allowing us to create valuable experiences for both travelers and local communities.”
Klook’s efforts to drive tourism are not limited to Osaka alone. The platform has also partnered with the Hiroshima Tourism Association (HIT) to bring 112 content creators from 20 different markets to showcase the beauty of Hiroshima. The digital campaign reached over 59.5 million people, amplifying the city’s appeal to global audiences.
In addition, Klook is one of just three online travel agencies collaborating with the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to encourage the discovery of lesser-known destinations across Japan, promoting them primarily to travelers from Asia.
Klook continues to play a pivotal role in digitalizing the travel experience, helping both local merchants and travelers access the best of what Japan has to offer. As it continues to expand its partnerships and outreach, Klook remains a key player in shaping the future of Japan’s tourism sector.
Klook’s dominant position as the leading platform for international tour bookings in Japan, as highlighted by the Kansai Airport Exit Survey 2025, underscores the growing role of digital platforms in reshaping the tourism landscape. The significant uptick in bookings, especially during events like Expo 2025, reflects the platform’s strong influence on enhancing travelers’ experiences and supporting Osaka’s tourism goals. Through strategic collaborations with organizations like the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau and the Japan National Tourism Organization, Klook is not only promoting well-known attractions but also spotlighting Japan’s hidden gems, expanding the reach of lesser-explored destinations. As Klook continues to innovate and partner with local businesses, its efforts contribute to shaping the future of Japan’s tourism sector, offering seamless, accessible experiences for global travelers while boosting the local economy.
