On September 11, Korean Air celebrated a major milestone with the launch of its inaugural flight to Lisbon, Portugal. Flight KE921 departed from Incheon at 11:50 am, marking an important step in the airline’s European expansion efforts.

The event was commemorated with a special ceremony at Incheon Airport, which saw the attendance of key figures such as Keehong Woo, President of Korean Air; Kwang Ho Ko, Vice President and Head of Korea Regional Headquarters, Korean Air; H.E. Susana Vaz Patto, Ambassador of Portugal to Korea; and Inês Pereira de Queiroz, Director of Visit Portugal for Japan and South Korea.

From September 11, Korean Air will offer direct flights between Incheon and Lisbon three times a week, operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flight KE921 is scheduled to leave Incheon at 1:10 pm and arrive in Lisbon at 8:10 pm local time, while the return flight KE922 will depart Lisbon at 10:10 pm and land in Incheon the following day at 7:10 pm. The flight duration is approximately 15 hours and 10 minutes for KE921 and 13 hours for KE922.

This new route will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has a seating capacity of 278, including 24 seats in Prestige Class and 254 in Economy Class.

Lisbon, situated at the mouth of the Tejo River on the Iberian Peninsula, is famous for its UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower, as well as its charming yellow trams. The city’s rich history, culture, and romantic atmosphere make it a top destination for travelers, from backpackers to honeymooners.

Previously, Korean Air passengers traveling to Portugal had to transfer through other European countries such as Spain or France. The new direct service to Lisbon enhances travel convenience, allowing passengers to easily explore the Portuguese capital and its surrounding regions. This strategic move also underscores Korean Air’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Europe.
