Krabi boosts indian tourism demand with roadshow events in bengaluru and mumbai

The tourism landscape of Krabi, Thailand, is witnessing a surge in interest from Indian travelers, thanks to the recent two‑city roadshow held in Bengaluru and Mumbai. Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mumbai office in collaboration with the Krabi Hotel Association, the roadshow aimed to strengthen Krabi’s appeal as a versatile destination for Indian tourists.

Held on 29th October in Bengaluru and 31st October in Mumbai, the event gathered top travel agents, destination management companies (DMCs), and 14 prominent Krabi hotels and resorts. These gatherings were designed to introduce Indian travel planners to Krabi’s growing potential beyond its classic image of pristine beaches and islands. The roadshow highlighted the destination’s evolution into a luxurious getaway offering unique experiences for honeymooners, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) travelers, and those seeking luxury resorts or bespoke experiences.

The event was timely, aligning perfectly with the increasing demand for international travel among Indians. Indian travelers are increasingly looking for unique experiences, from destination weddings to business meetings in exotic settings. Krabi, with its beautiful landscapes, modern infrastructure, and the introduction of direct flights from Bengaluru and Mumbai by IndiGo Airlines, is now more accessible than ever for Indian tourists.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Krabi has evolved over the years to accommodate both leisure and corporate tourism. Krabi is no longer just about enjoying its stunning beaches; it now offers a range of activities from wellness retreats to cultural experiences and luxury stays. The roadshow allowed key figures from the TAT, as well as the Krabi Hotel Association, to connect directly with Indian travel planners, promoting the destination as ideal for luxury holidays, romantic getaways, and corporate meetings.

The event was much more than just an exhibition of Krabi’s offerings. It featured a mix of one‑on‑one meetings, networking sessions, and product presentations, all aimed at creating meaningful partnerships with the Indian travel trade. In Bengaluru, a select group of Indian travel professionals was able to explore bespoke Krabi packages, from its upscale resorts to newly available experiences catering to the Indian market’s preference for wellness and personalisation.

The Mumbai session followed suit, with a focus on expanding Krabi’s appeal not only as a beach destination but also as a prime location for small‑group events, MICE tourism, and romantic occasions like weddings and honeymoons. The presence of IndiGo Airlines, with its newly launched direct flights, was also a significant highlight, making the destination much more reachable. With more frequent flights connecting Mumbai and Bengaluru to Krabi, travel planners are more likely to consider the destination for their Indian clients.

One of the key insights from the event was that Krabi has positioned itself as an attractive destination not only for leisure tourism but also for business‑related travel. The island’s combination of natural beauty and infrastructure makes it perfect for MICE events. From luxury hotels to adventure tours, Krabi offers something for everyone. As Indian outbound tourism has grown, the demand for unique international locations like Krabi is rapidly increasing.

Krabi’s expansion plans also extend beyond conventional tourism. With a range of wedding and honeymoon offerings tailored specifically to the Indian market, Krabi hopes to tap into India’s burgeoning destination wedding industry. As Indian couples seek exotic locales for their weddings, Krabi’s serene beaches, luxurious resorts, and top‑notch services are ideal for an unforgettable experience.

Looking ahead, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is optimistic that Krabi will become a sought‑after destination for Indian travelers. With ongoing promotional efforts and improved connectivity, the island is poised to attract a growing number of tourists from India. Travel professionals at the roadshow were eager to collaborate and bring Krabi to the forefront of India’s travel agendas.

The future of Krabi as a key destination for Indian tourism seems promising. As the sun sets behind Krabi’s towering limestone formations, the island’s strategic outreach to the Indian market appears to be paying off. Whether for a quiet luxury retreat, a dynamic MICE event, or a beautiful wedding, Krabi’s diverse offerings are sure to win over Indian tourists in the years to come.

As the roadshow concluded and the two cities wrapped up their events, the excitement was palpable. For Indian travelers, Krabi’s message was clear: it’s not just a beach destination anymore. With better accessibility, upgraded amenities, and personalized experiences, Krabi is becoming an increasingly attractive travel option for those seeking an unforgettable vacation abroad.

For travel agents and planners, Krabi presents an excellent opportunity to diversify their offerings. With new direct flight connections and the destination’s growing focus on the Indian market, Krabi is ready to welcome a new wave of tourists. Now, it’s up to the Indian travel industry to take this momentum and turn it into tangible travel bookings. In the end, it’s these partnerships that will shape Krabi’s future in the Indian tourism market.
