Kuriyottumala farm will soon be a tourist hotspot

Kuriyottumala, the hi-tech dairy farm of the Kerala government is spread across 106 acres of land with a wide assorted of exotic breeds. Soon, the state government will be transforming it into an important tourist hotspot in Kollam district.


It’s an ambitious project of the district panchayat, the farm comes with many attractions that would excite the visitors completely.


The farm is situated at a picturesque part of Piravanthur panchayat. From August 31st, the farm will start welcoming visitors from all over the world. It houses flightless birds at present like ostrich and emu along with exotic breeds of cows, goats, horses and rabbits.


The main target of this effort is to provide a hands-on farm experience to the tourists. For the visitors, the authorities have built cottages and huts as well where they can stay. At different points of the farm, a garden, children’s park, and life-size animal sculptures have been installed which adds to the appeal of this locations. To the farm, a first-of-its-kind domestic animal museum will soon be added along with a demonstration of South American parrots.


Also, the farm authorities are in discussion to introduce coracle and ropeway rides that would add to greater number of options for outdoor recreation. Works worth Rs.5 crore have been implemented so far in the farm and the district panchayat will be marketing fodder grass cultivation and the production of value added products as well.
