Laos gears up to host ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024 in January

As the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024 descends upon Vientiane, Laos, the landlocked Asian nation stands poised to defy expectations, inviting delegates and visitors into a realm of adrenaline-pumping adventures, cultural immersion, and untouched natural splendour.

Recognising the challenge of spotlighting Laos’ myriad offerings within a constrained timeframe, Vanthanouvong acknowledges the imperative to enhance facilities and broaden exploration opportunities beyond Vientiane for attendees.

Collaborating closely with tour operators and seeking guidance from ASEANTA, Laos is strategizing to ensure Vientiane’s readiness to warmly welcome guests. The nation’s partnership with Inthira Group, a leading adventure travel and ecotourism entity, promises curated activities showcasing Laos’ diverse tourism products during the ATF 2024.

One of the highly anticipated highlights is the high-speed train connecting Laos to China. This rail link seamlessly connects Vientiane to Kunming, traversing popular tourist hubs like Vang Vieng and the cultural gem, Luang Prabang, both accessible in under four hours.

To accommodate the influx of guests, Vientiane is gearing up with increased lodging options. Sirisuck Viradet, from Crowne Plaza Vientiane, reveals plans to introduce an additional 725 rooms to the existing 14,000-plus rooms. The unveiling of a new meeting facility capable of hosting 1,500 guests aligns perfectly with the forum’s schedule.

Moreover, esteemed international brands like Amari Vientiane, DoubleTree by Hilton Vientiane, and Holiday Inn and Suites Vientiane are slated for inauguration by year-end, further augmenting the city’s hospitality landscape.

With the theme “Quality and Responsible Tourism: Sustaining ASEAN’s Future,” the 43rd ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024 promises an immersive experience from January 22-27, 2024. As Vientiane takes center stage, this forum not only aims to elevate Laos onto the tourism radar but also underscores its commitment to fostering sustainable, high-quality tourism across the ASEAN region. Attendees can anticipate an enticing blend of adventure, culture, and untapped wonders, setting the stage for an unforgettable ASEAN Tourism Forum in the heart of Laos.
