Las Catalinas

By the close of 2022, Las Catalinas, the car-free coastal town nestled in Costa Rica’s northwestern province, proudly unveiled its Beach Town neighborhood, marking the culmination of a meticulous 16-year journey of planning and construction. Honored with a prestigious Charter Award from The Congress for New Urbanism in 2022, Beach Town was lauded for fostering communities that are not only more equitable, sustainable, and connected but also healthier and more prosperous. Spanning 21 acres, Beach Town boasts inviting neighborhoods, walkable streets and plazas, and timeless architectural designs that seamlessly blend leisure with urban living, all while preserving the natural beauty of its surroundings.

This ethos of fostering connections between people and nature carries forward into Las Catalinas’ next endeavor: El Prado. Situated adjacent to Beach Town on the eastern side of Camino Las Catalinas, El Prado represents the next phase of the town’s evolution. Encompassing 60 acres, El Prado is envisioned as a vibrant neighborhood characterized by its grand Parque Central, complete with sports fields, tennis courts, and a covered basketball/multisport court, alongside a neighborhood pool and charming pedestrian-friendly streets. Offering a mix of residences, amenities, and businesses, El Prado promises dramatic hillside views and a series of stunning pedestrian stair streets reminiscent of Mediterranean towns. With an estimated 500-600 residences, including flats, townhouses, and larger houses boasting panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, El Prado is set to redefine coastal living.

As construction progresses, Las Catalinas is thrilled to introduce its newest neighborhood within El Prado: Montaña Flats. Nestled into the hillside and surrounded by mixed-use buildings, parks, and plazas, Montaña Flats offers 38 one, two, and three-bedroom residences with breathtaking ocean views from nearly every unit. Accessible via a funicular, these flats provide a seamless integration with the hillside terrain, offering owners and guests unparalleled ease of access. Scheduled for completion as early as April 2026, Montaña Flats present an enticing opportunity to embrace the distinctive lifestyle of Las Catalinas. With prices ranging from $285,000 to $1,100,000 USD, these residences feature clean and bright finishes, embodying the essence of coastal luxury.
