Once more, Las Vegas Sands has secured a position as one of Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies, earning a spot on the prestigious 2024 list of globally respected and reputable businesses. This marks the company’s impressive 10th appearance on the list.
“Sands’ being included on Fortune’s list is an endorsement of our performance in delivering economic, social and environmental value to our communities, Team Members, investors and customers,” said Patrick Dumont, president and chief operating officer. “Entering 2024 with this recognition demonstrates our ability to successfully navigate change and evolution, while remaining focused on the positive impact we strive to deliver.”
Following its exit from Las Vegas operations in 2022, Sands has shifted its focus towards reinvesting in Asia and establishing new businesses and geographies. In 2023, the company reiterated its commitment to Macao, as Sands China pledged a $3.75 billion investment in capital and operating projects through 2032, aiming to bolster Macao’s position as a global tourism destination. Additionally, Sands is actively contributing to the growth of international tourism in Singapore through a $1.75 billion reinvestment program at Marina Bay Sands.
As the largest global developer and operator of integrated resorts, Sands creates premier attractions that feature luxury hotel rooms, gaming facilities, state-of-the-art meeting and convention spaces, extensive retail options, and a variety of entertainment attractions. Under the Communities pillar, Sands exceeded its target of 150,000 community service hours by the end of 2022, driven by extensive support for pandemic-related initiatives and core Sands Cares volunteer efforts. As of the 2022 report, Sands had invested $56 million in workforce development initiatives, surpassing the halfway point of its cumulative investment of $113 million since 2021. Carbon emissions reduction was reported at 50%, with updates expected in the 2023 ESG report to account for continued pandemic-related impacts on property visitation.
Sands’ acknowledgment in the Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies list contributes to its recent honors, which encompass being featured on Newsweek’s 2024 America’s Most Responsible Companies list and being incorporated into the 2023 Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices.
Fortune, in collaboration with Korn Ferry, conducted the survey of corporate reputations. The evaluation considered approximately 1,500 candidates, comprising the 1,000 largest U.S. companies by revenue and non-U.S. companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database with revenues exceeding $10 billion. The top-rated companies were selected based on executives’ evaluations within their industry, considering criteria such as investment value, quality of management and products, social responsibility, and talent attraction.
