In 2023, the LATAM group facilitated around 74 million passengers, marking an 18.3% surge from 2022 and hitting pre-pandemic levels, as per the latest operational data released today. This increase was primarily fueled by escalated passenger numbers in the domestic markets of Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, while international travel continued its recovery. Presently, LATAM offers an extensive network connecting passengers to 147 destinations across four continents.
The consolidated capacity of LATAM, measured in available seat-kilometers (ASK), rose by 20.6% compared to 2022, aligning with the revised projections from last August. December 2023 witnessed a 13.2% capacity uptick from the same period in 2022. Notably, international capacity increased by 18.6%, and the domestic markets of Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru saw a 16.3% increase.
Passenger traffic, gauged in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), saw a 23.1% yearly rise from 2022, largely driven by a 39.4% surge in international demand throughout the year. December 2023 specifically recorded a 21.8% increase in passenger traffic compared to December 2022. All operational segments of the group witnessed growth: 29.1% in international routes, 21.7% in domestic markets of Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, and 11.7% in the Brazilian domestic market.
Conversely, in 2023, the group achieved a consolidated passenger load factor of 83.1%, marking a 1.7 percentage point increase from 2022. By December 2023, the consolidated passenger load factor reached 84.4%, showcasing a significant 6.0 percentage point surge from December 2022.
Regarding cargo, the capacity measured in available ton-kilometers (ATK) hit 7,171 million in 2023, demonstrating a 14.6% increase compared to 2022. In December 2023, ATKs experienced an 11.3% surge compared to December 2022, reaching 668 million available ton-kilometers.
