Lunar New Year Festival

Lee Kum Kee, the renowned brand for authentic Asian sauces and condiments, is excited to have participated in the widely celebrated Lunar New Year Festival in Wellington, New Zealand. The festival took place on February 17-18 at the TSB Arena and showcased a rich tapestry of cultural traditions, uniting a variety of communities.

As one of the sponsors, Lee Kum Kee was overjoyed by the festival’s outstanding success. The event was honored by the presence of Tory Whanau, the Mayor of Wellington, as the guest of honor, with notable attendees including Members of Parliament Carlos Cheung, Nancy Lu, and Greg O’Connor.

A photo opportunity at the Lee Kum Kee booth featured Greg O’Connor, Member of Parliament for Ōhāriu, Tory Whanau, Mayor of Wellington, and Dodie Hung, Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs of Lee Kum Kee.

The festival dazzled attendees with dragon dances, cultural exhibitions, and live performances. Demonstrating its commitment to authentic Asian culinary arts, Lee Kum Kee offered a selection of its sauce products at special promotional prices, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in the authentic flavors of Asia. The event was further enlivened by the presence of the beloved Lee Kum Kee Panda, who mingled and took photos with the crowd.

As a token of appreciation, Tory Whanau, the Mayor of Wellington, gifted a memento to Dodie Hung, the Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Lee Kum Kee, in recognition of the company’s contribution to the festival.

Dodie Hung, Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs of Lee Kum Kee says, “We are grateful to The Asian Events Trust for their dedication in organising such a remarkable celebration and were delighted to support it. Lee Kum Kee remains committed to promoting and sharing authentic Asian flavours and culture worldwide.”

Lee Kum Kee played a pivotal role in the continuation of this long-established festival, stepping in to provide necessary funding after it was announced last November that the event was at risk of cancellation due to insufficient city council funding.
