The Loboc River Cruise, a sought-after attraction in Bohol, has announced an adjustment in its pricing structure effective April 1, 2024, to ensure the continuation of its operations. The announcement, made through social media on March 18, indicated a rise from the previous fee of P850 to a new rate of P1,000 for the iconic river cruise. This adjustment reflects an increase of P150, aiming to maintain the high standard of service and client experience that the cruise is known for.
Senior citizens and children of certain heights are subject to discounted rates, with the policy for infants and very small children remaining unchanged. However, the announcement of the new rates has sparked some controversy among potential visitors, with a segment expressing concerns over the perceived steepness of the price increase.
In response, the Association of Loboc Floating Restaurant Operators (ALFRO) and the Loboc local government have jointly elaborated on the rationale behind the price adjustments. They cited various factors necessitating the increase, including the rising operational costs, the need for high-quality ingredients sourced from local suppliers, and the support for staff. Additionally, the maintenance and enhancement of the floating restaurants, along with the reconstruction of boats and repairs to the Docking Port damaged by Typhoon Odette, have been highlighted as key areas of investment to preserve the quality of the experience offered by the Loboc River Cruise.
ALFRO and the local government underscored their understanding of the public’s concerns regarding price increases, emphasizing that the decision was made with careful consideration of the essential factors contributing to the operational sustainability of the cruise.
The Loboc River Cruise, renowned for its peaceful journey along the jade-green Loboc River, features a buffet, live entertainment, and cultural shows, making it a highlight for tourists visiting Bohol. Located around 26 kilometers from Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol, this attraction plays a vital role in the region’s tourism industry, offering visitors unique insights into the local culture and natural beauty.
