London Gatwick stands prepared to greet travelers during the upcoming Easter holiday period, marking what is anticipated to be the airport’s busiest fortnight of the year thus far.

Easter Sunday, falling on March 31st, is projected to witness the highest volume of departures from London Gatwick, with Sunday, April 7th slated to be the peak day overall.

Among the favored destinations for the Easter getaway are Barcelona, Malaga, and Rome, while Dubai, Orlando, and New York take the lead in long-haul travel preferences.

Nick Williams, Head of Passenger Operations London Gatwick, said: “Everyone at Gatwick is gearing up for a busy Easter break, we are all looking forward to welcoming passengers as they travel through the airport to reach their destinations. We are working hard, alongside our airlines and partners, to ensure a smooth operation for all.

“We are proud to now offer an expansive choice of 220 destinations from 56 airlines. These services are vital for offering passengers across London and the South East an excellent choice of holiday locations, or opportunities to visit family and friends further afield.

“With so many people travelling, we remind passengers to prepare in advance and read our advice for coming to the airport.”

Top tips for Easter break travelers include:

  1. Plan your journey to the airport in advance: Check for any road works or disruptions to rail services before you set off.
  2. If driving, secure your spot in advance with Official London Gatwick Parking.
  3. Prepare for security procedures as usual: Ensure liquids are in containers no larger than 100ml, stored in a clear plastic bag of up to 1 litre, and remove any plastic bags and electronic items from your hand luggage.
  4. Book special assistance at least 48 hours ahead: Visit the London Gatwick website for further details.
  5. Arrive punctually: Aim to be there when check-in opens, typically three hours before a long-haul flight and two hours before a short-haul flight.
  6. Explore London Gatwick’s variety of dining options: Recent additions like Vagabond Bar and Kitchen, BrewDog, Greggs, and The Breakfast Club offer diverse culinary experiences.
  7. Enjoy 10% off shopping with World Duty Free’s Reserve & Collect service: Browse products online, reserve them up to 30 days prior to travel, and pay when you collect in-store.

Additionally, London Gatwick is committed to its long-term development, with plans to bring the existing Northern Runway into regular use. This initiative, currently undergoing examination with the Planning Inspectorate, promises to enhance resilience, reduce delays, and foster economic growth by supporting trade, tourism, and job creation at both national and regional levels.
