London Luton Airport Earns Top Honors as European Airport of the Year at ACI EUROPE Awards

London Luton Airport (LLA) has been awarded the title of European Airport of the Year (10-25 million passengers) at the prestigious ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards.

The award was presented to LLA during ACI EUROPE’s Annual Congress and General Assembly in Istanbul, triumphing over strong competition from finalists Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport and Brussels Airport in the 10-25 million passengers category.

ACI EUROPE’s Best Airport Awards celebrate excellence and remarkable achievements among its member airport operators. The awards recognize outstanding performance across five categories, ensuring that the best in the industry receives the spotlight they deserve.

LLA impressed the judging panel with its strategic initiatives that marked significant milestones over the past year:

• Implemented a ‘One Team, One Plan’ strategy to position LLA as the UK’s most user-friendly major airport, emphasizing sustainable growth.
• Attained Level 4 ‘Transformation’ in the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation program, with a commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
• Expanded passenger amenities with the addition of 18 new shops and restaurants, along with two new passenger lounges.
• Introduced an electrified express rail service, reducing travel time from central London to the LLA terminal to approximately 30 minutes.
• Demonstrated operational resilience in the aftermath of a major car park fire in October 2023.
• Implemented significant operational improvements throughout the year.
• Fostered collaboration with stakeholders to enhance mutual learning and achieve shared goals.
