John Ackerman, the Chief Executive Officer of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), has announced the appointment of three new members to its executive leadership team. The new appointments include Marla Bleavins as the Chief Airport Administrative Officer, Robert Lowe as the Chief People and Culture Officer, and Becca Doten as the Chief of Staff.

“Mayor Bass and our Board of Airport Commissioners have a vision to transform our airports into a truly world-class experience for our employees, our community and our customers, and these three appointments will help us achieve that goal,” said John Ackerman, Chief Executive Officer, LAWA. “As we invest billions of dollars to modernize our facilities and infrastructure, it is just as critical that we invest in our most important asset – the people of LAWA. Marla, Rob and Becca bring a depth and breadth of public and private sector experience that will help LAWA shine bright as both a leading employer and as a valued and trusted community partner.”

Marla Bleavins, in her role as Chief Airport Administrative Officer, will be responsible for Human Resources, Commercial Development, Strategic Sourcing, Internal Audit and Ethics, and Risk Management. Her efforts will focus on supporting LAWA staff and serving the community while updating old systems and processes. Bleavins, with a rich background in city service and financial management, will start her new role on May 6, 2024.

Robert Lowe will take on the position of Chief People and Culture Officer, overseeing Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, Jobs and Social Responsibility, and spearheading a new Talent Development team. With over two decades of experience in human resources within the aviation sector, Lowe aims to enhance LAWA’s team culture and people systems. He joins the LAWA team on April 8, 2024.

Becca Doten, as Chief of Staff, will offer strategic advice to the CEO and manage significant department-wide projects. She will also handle executive and Board administration and maintain leadership over the Department’s external affairs functions. Doten’s extensive experience within LAWA and her diverse background in government and communications equip her to take on this role immediately.

These strategic appointments underscore LAWA’s dedication to becoming a leading employer and a valued community partner by focusing on both infrastructure modernization and human capital.
